Shroom Uses -(What you can't do with them!!)

Due to the widespread and unjust banning of magic mushrooms across the globe, the use of magic mushrooms is something many of us may never have the pleasure of experiencing. The SLF think this is such a shame. We promise you, that we will do our best to convince the powers of be against the wisdom of these policies and utterly believe, in time this situation will change. Shrooms pose no threat to society or health when utilised in postive and responsible ways. In fact, quite the opposite is true. However because of their temporarily ilicit nature, there remain so many things you just can't do with shrooms. The SLF got our heads together and came up with a list of pretty much all the things we could think of, that you just can't do with them. So take note and be careful out there.

Shrooms are generally best consumed on an empty stomach

add shrooms to pot noodles for an out of this world tastey treat
  • Chicken and Mushroom (and Extra mushroom) Pot Noodle.

One of the SLF's Field Agents told us of a story how he and his girlfriend watched a rare solar eclipse, after eating a very special Chicken and Mushroom Pot Noodle with extra mushrooms. Apparently their consequenting frollicking in the grass as the shrooms kicked in, caught the attention of film crew for a local news station, who spotted the pair and cut them into their coverage of the event for that region's local evening's news. We had to laugh. However we can just imagine how cool that must've been, shrooming as the sun gets completely blocked out. It must've been amazing.

  • shroom tea is an amazing magical experience that will leave you spell bound
  • Shroom Tea

Perhaps the most common method of ingesting magic musrhooms, most probably because users don't have to actually eat the mushrooms themselves. It is very simple to prepare as well, and is a perfect shroom delivery system, that quickly transport you to the magic land. Recipes for teas are many, and there are a lot of different twists. However the best teas, are those that actually make their contents taste pleasant, or at least mask the strong shroomy flavours enough that each gulp isn't accompanied by an eyes closed scowls of displeasure. We have to admit, as much as we like mushrooms we've never really warmed to their taste. For this reason a simple recipe that we can reccomend is as follows.

    1. Measure out a mugfull of water, (if one person is drinking) plus a little more to allow for evaporation, and put in a saucepan.
    2. Bring the water to the boil.
    3. Add your prepared mushrooms (fresh or dried) to the water and then turn heat down immediately and allow to simmer.
    4. Turn heat down shortly later to simmer, and leave to gently bubble away.
    5. Leave mushrooms to simmer gently, stirring occaisionally. Do not allow to boil down too much, and add more water if required. (You want to end up with enough to fill you mug at the end).
    6. Leave to simmer for 15-25 minutes.
    7. When ready pour the liquid into a jug for easy pouring.
    8. Now pour the liquid through a strainer (cheese cloth or other suitable material - kitchen paper will do if nothing better is around) into your mug. When the liquid is all gone, you'll be left with wet mushrooms at the bottom. We call these the eye of the hurricane, and is highly concentrated.
    9. Collect all the moist mushrooms in your strainer material, and then gently squeeze the remaining liquid into your mug.
    10. At this stage, your liquid will taste like 'swamp water' if we're being honest. We reccomend adding a bit of honey or sugar or other suitably sweet things to help mask this taste.
    11. Your drink is ready to enjoy.
  • Shroom Pizza

Get your favourite super-market pizza and some of your finest, freshest shrooms, and chop up into small pieces. Add chillies, and peppers, and extra cheese if required - we like ours spicy!! Put in the oven until lovely golden brown and serve for an out of this world feast of the Gods.

  • Shroom Ice Cubes

An unusual one this, but one that's no less an effective means of preserving/taking shrooms - kind of like Ice Tea, SLF style. In fact that's essentilaly exactly what it is. To make shroom ice cubes, prepare in exactly the same way you would our shroom tea, described above. But instead of pouring the tea into mugs, instead, carefully pour out into an ice cube tray, and pop in the freezer, which obviously turns them into Shroom Ice Cubes. The advantages of this is, is that it can provide long term storage for your tea, which is kept in a kind of suspende animation, just waiting to be popped out and into a saucepan, or warm mug of tea at some future date. Measuring doesage is easy too, as once you've estimated how potent each cube is, you just simply add according to taste. Big thanks to S J Eastley for bringing this one to our attention. Definitely one that would be worth giving a try, if only it was allowed.

  • using shrooms in a stir fry is a really healthy and nutrious means of enjoying shrooms
  • Shroom Stir Fry

Another great way to turn shrooms into a healthy, nutritious and tastey snack.

  • Shroom Capsules

Shrooms need to be very dried for this. Chop your shrooms up as small as you can (try to get a poder like consistency). Find some cheap medicine that comes in the small gelatin capsules - the ones that can be split in two. Empty out their contents, and then carefully fill each half of the capsule with as much contents as you can, and then re-assemble. These are excellent for people that have problems consuming magic mushrooms as there is no bitter taste, and the capsules are easy to swallow. The effects can come on quickly.
See this links for a discussion on this subject on the Cluster Headaches message board and this article from the Shroomery

  • cubensis mushrooms can easily be eaten when dried, and are quite tastey
  • Shroom Chews

This is mostly only possible with larger magic mushrooms such as Psilocybe cubensis, or Psilocybe cyanescens. It requires that that the mushrooms are completely dried and have a texture like Bilton (dried meat). And that's all there is to it. The mushrooms can be dipped in accondriments for flavour, and then munched at your leisure. This is an excellent way to eat the mushrooms, as they are easy to consume.

Radiohead - Creep

If you can get your trip to the right place, then Radiohead will do the rest. Another wicked tune coming your way..(With lyrics - no video - sorry)

Nirvana - come as you are - unplugged

We couldn't believe what a treat it was watching this show go out live, all those years ago. Even now Nirvana still captures that unmistakeable grungy-ness that epitomised a generation. It's hard to believe Kurt ain't here any more. Gone, but not forgotten.

Olive ~ You're Not Alone

Just a memorable club tune to get into the groove with.
