Magic mushrooms, (what we're all about), find a wide dispersement throughout the world and through a wide range of habitats. Man has always had a curious relationship with the mushroom throughout the history of time. To some it has been a vessel of knowledge and deep spiritual power, so awe inspiring Religions grew up around their useage (primarily Mexico), generating Gods who could only be appeased by human sacrifice. Some have even suggested that the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden that Adam and Eve ate, was no less then a magic mushroom. To others, who discovered the mushroom's power accidently by mistakingly eating them out of need for food, these feelings may have been interpreted with fearfulness, mistaking the intoxicating psychedilia the mushroom can generate, as a foreboding notion that they had been poisoned and were in imminent danger of dying. (This argument is used to undermine the idea that magic mushrooms have NOT had a long history of useage anywhere, other than Mexico). This therefore raises the question is it not WE who are the shroom generation? Aren't we the ones now who are capable of appreciating shroom's power?
The magic mushroom is one of the humblest fungi on the planet, but has suffered from a 'crusadesque' attmept to prevent it's use for as far back as man can remember too. When Cortes brought down the Aztec Empire, Christianity was imposed upon the local culture, as a means of eliminating it's 'heathen ways'. The Spanish priests horrified at seeing sacremental and ritualistic useage of mushrooms, sort to outlaw and ban their usage, driving it's users and religions underground, where they may still operate in secret today. Many hundreds of years later on, very little seems to have changed. The magic mushroom and it's user base, (which continues to grow) are as persecuted now as they have ever been. Magic mushrooms are branded and categorised by law enforcement and Goverment in the same categories as some of the most addictive drugs on the planet.
When we consider the position that magic mushrooms and shroomers find themselves in today, we just struggle to understand it. It is as if we are living back in the crusades. The level of unjustifiedness that magic mushrooms are banned (as well as many other drugs) is one of the principle, motivating factors that drive us on at the SLF, "To Do Justice For Shrooms", is all we hope to achieve.
The magic mushroom, or shroom as we like to know it, is a mushroom that seems almost divinely made for man. The amazing complexity and power of the visions and feelings it can generate, transcends everyday normal experience, to a point where under high doses it is very difficult to fully comprehend or even describe its effects and convey to people it's many virtues. Every day language seems almost insufficient to begin to describe just what the magic mushroom experience is really like. However, the legal status of the mushroom is not based on informed wisdom or experience of the mushroom, but on fear of it, whipped up by politicians and an insanely negative media who judge it ignorantly with no direct experience or appreciation for the mushroom.
We want to stress from our personal opinion on mushrooms that Magic mushrooms are completely safe, and rewarding when used properly. The experience is so fullfilling, that there is very little need to repeat it again, for a considerable amount of time (unless of course you want to). However like all things in life, reckless behaviour can result in problems. If you intend to do shrooms, learn about them first, and try them at lower doses until you get a feel for them. High doses for users with little experience of them, can be terrorfying. You have been warned.
Also, if you do do shrooms, don't mix magic mushroom usage with other drugs such as alcohol. Alchohol can seriously amplify to disorientating levels, the effects of the mushroom, making even experienced users, struggle. Read here for just one example of this and the problmes it can cause). Instead drink plenty of water, which is a key ingredient in the whole experience. This adds to the shrooms purifying qualities.
Keep yourself safe doing shrooms, and avoiding doing anything that can put you in risk, such as crossing busy roads, or driving a vehicle. Be sensible, and shrooms can offer one of the most fascinating, rewarding and mind blowingly fun experiences you can imagine. Mushrooms should not be banned. People should instead be educated how to use them responsibley and safely. We would echo those sentiments for pretty much all the currently ileagal drugs, that other people enjoy/need to use.
One principle advantage of mushrooms though, is their complete lack of addictiveness. Shrooms are something you'll always be able to take on your terms, and will never develop cravings for doing the drug. In fact the mushroom seems to have an inbuilt limiting factor, that somehow causes one to have a reduced need to do them. Most users of shrooms use them very infrequently, (Once, twice or even three times a year tops!!). However other's say that the effects of the mushroom are very long lasting, and can infuse you with a postive factor that persists up to many months after taking them - a kind of after glow which leaves you feeling good - kind of like waking up in a good mood every day for months.
Mushrooms are also very good for health, (mental, physcial and spiritual), and this is something that has been wildly ignored by the media and government, and is a point the SLF are keen to drive home. Shrooms are positvily beneficial for health. Not doing mushrooms, is missing out on one of the great natural medicines nature can devise. And you don't need to do them often as we mentioned above, or for that matter in high doses. Shrooms can boost your immune system, preventing you getting colds and infections.
