Wow it's been a while since we have a chance to update the website, busy with a few top secret SLF projects.. We are pleased to say that we have been accepted to become an affiliate of Transform who we view as one of the foremost Drugs Lobbying Think Tanks in the UK and possible the world. We hope to build strong relationships with Transform in the future and provide them with any assistance and funding that we can. So remember when you buy any of our T-Shirts we automatically make a donation to Transform.

We read with interest that Chris Evans has got his name in the headlines for taking Shrooms at a Meatloaf concert. We can only hope Chris had an amazing time, and are a little aggrieved at the hugely negative and damming press coverage he received from the British media. We really hope this doesn't put Chris off doing shrooms in the future, but it just goes to show, the huge interesting cross section of people that do shrooms.

We also want to draw attention to another campaign that the SLF is supporting at www.freecasey.org . Casey is currently serving a 20 year sentence for manufacture of LSD, and is fundraising in order to launch an appeal case which is basing many of it's arguments on the government's unlawful misinterpretation of the existing drugs laws in the UK. Casey should know, as in the many years he's been studying law in prison he has quickly developed himself into one of the foremost experts in the UK and Drug law legislation. If Casey could win his case it would have massive implications for the implementation of future drug regulation. It promises to be an amazing and tantalizing scrap, so come on everybody, and support Casey's Cause. Donate as much as you can. Thanks.

World Psychedelic Forum 21st to 24th March

Hey everybody - just to announce that the World Psychedelic Forum is having it's annual and massively expanding and important conference in Basel, Switzerland from the 21st to the 24th March. The SLF has never attended the forum, and will be sending a delegate across for a day, to find out what it's all about. Want to join us, get in touch and let us know? Barack Obama has gained an 11th straight victory in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination by winning the Democrats Abroad primary.

He now faces his rival, New York senator Hillary Clinton, in a TV debate in Texas ahead of crucial primaries there and in Ohio next month.

Spaz Attack Alert

SLF Launches NEW Online T-Shirt Shop

For every one sold, the SLF donates £1 to Transform to put towards Drug Classification System reform which we hope is the best defense for getting shrooms salvaged from Class A.

Take the SLF Philosophy to the Streets - all our shirts are deliberately designed to get the message across, but to keep up our member's appearances at the same - we're a professional outfit, so you've gotta look your best. We've also tried to design something for everybody, loud ones, proud ones, subtle ones, and funny ones. So please come on in, and browse at your leisure.

So obviously we were really happy when she blew away the equally stunning Ana Ivanovic (hard luck Ana) to take the Australian Open Final - well done Maria. SLF removes banner statement - the global movement for liberation of Shrooms from Oppressive Governments -

Afer much consideration it was deemed to be suggesting breech of SLF guidelines on what is acceptable to suggest for our organisation. We felt it sounded too extreme and may give the wrong impression about or organisation so soon into its life.
We therefore unequivocally retract this statement. It was taken down last night. In its place was the temporary banner,
For Everyone.
This too, has now been taken down, and after some amusing deliberation, replaced with
"Bringing the World to its senses" (the word no one seems to now how to spell - at least at the slf anyway.
We're suddenly struck with the beauty of this statement, and actually feel it represents us quite well, in light of our new perspective on things. This is actually, what we believe we're about, and still resonates with our philosophical beliefs on the subject , of highlighting the plight of mushrooms to the world. We also at the same time direct you to realise that shrooms tune you into your senses. It's a simple, undeniable fact. So we'll go with it for now - let us know if you agree with us.

Did you know - that Albert Hoffman - the man who discovered LSD and Psilocybin celebrated his 102 birthday on January 11th this year. Congratulations to him and best of luck for many more years ahead.

Dutch Ban Shroom Sales

The Dutch government is banning the sale of all magic mushrooms after a series of high-profile incidents involving tourists who had taken them.

The decision will take effect within several months, said a spokesman for the Dutch justice ministry.

A major Dutch producer of the psychedelic mushrooms said he stood to lose millions of euros as a result.

The Netherlands is famed for its liberal drugs policy, with marijuana openly sold in licensed cafes.

Magic mushrooms, more properly known as psilocybe, contain the psychedelic chemicals psilocybin and psilocin.

"We intend to forbid the sale of magic mushrooms," said justice ministry spokesman Wim van der Weegen.

"That means shops caught doing so will be closed."

Currently in the Netherlands the sale of dried magic mushrooms - in which the psychoactive chemicals psilocybin and psilocin are stronger - is banned but fresh mushrooms are allowed.

This is because it is more difficult to ascertain how much of the chemicals fresh mushrooms contain. But Mr Van der Weegen said this was exactly the issue.

"The problem with mushrooms is that their effect is unpredictable. It's impossible to estimate what amount will have what effect."

Calls for a re-evaluation of the drug grew after a 17-year-old French girl jumped from a building after eating magic mushrooms during a school trip to Amsterdam in March.

Other incidents involving the drug have included an Icelandic tourist jumping from a balcony and breaking both legs and a Danish tourist driving his car wildly through a camping ground, narrowly missing sleeping campers.

"It's a shame, the media really blew this up into a big issue," said Chloe Collette, owner of the FullMoon shop, which sells magic mushrooms in Amsterdam.

She said all the incidents had involved magic mushrooms in conjunction with other drugs.

Murat Kucuksen, whose farm supplies about half the magic mushrooms on sale in the Netherlands, said he stood to lose several million euros as a result of the ban.

Users of fresh mushrooms experience effects ranging from giggling fits and intensification of colours, lights and sounds to, more rarely, hallucinations. Negative effects can include vomiting, and anxiety.

SLF Website Launches - One month on, (added 17/01/2008)

Just before Christmas 2007 the SLF finally managed to go global with the launch of our much loved and admired website. This couldn't have been done without all the hard, selfless work of the Shroom Liberation Front's admin staff, who are determined to push out their shared vision for creating a world-wide movement made up from ordinary, determined people to join the campaign to save our magical mushrooms.

The response since we've launched has been fantastic - we are receiving much positive support from shroomers and admirers of our cause and website from all over the world. We even had someone viewing the site from Cocos (Keeling) Island, which has certainly caused much awe and amazement amongst the team here. And if you didn't know, it's a small island 2750klm north-west of Perth and 900klm west south-west of Christmas Island. Wow!! We are also getting increasing interest from our buddies in the USA, as well as people clicking on in Sweden, Germany, Spain and Belguim. We even had Australian visitors showing interest and support. There has also been a hint of interest from South America. All this just confirms what we already knew, that shroomers and shrooming is a global phenomenon, and something that people from all different walks of life consider important wherever in the world they live. We can only hope that the Shroom Liberation Front continues to continue this trend and continue to unite Shroomers and bring people together. Thanks, muchos gracias for all the support so far. And if you can do your bit to help spread the word of the SLF and try and ignite interest in us in the areas you live, it can play a massive part in getting the message spread far and wide.
