The story currently rocking the drugs legislitive world. To our mind this just proves what've we've already known. The government simply aren't interested in a fair, sensible and informed drugs policy, preferring to follow tabloid driven sensationalism rather then cold hard evidence, from independent experts. It just proves that the governemnet doesn't have the nation's interest at heart, and is chronically out of touch, and lacking the moral fibre necessary to do the right thing when it comes to drugs policy. MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico enacted a controversial law on Thursday decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana, cocaine, heroin and other drugs while encouraging government-financed treatment for drug dependency free of charge. Read more here
An interesting discussion on the reasons that may have been behind Mexico's decision to legalise possession of small amounts drugs. The SLF sincerely wishes Mexico the best of luck with this positive decision. Hopefully this is the first step to killing off the failed war on drugs policy and a message to the rest of the world.
